Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT) is a precision-based, non-invasive therapy for the many symptoms associated with allergies and sensitivities. Rather than treating the immune system, AAT works with the organ systems involved in an overreaction — helping the body respond more appropriately to substances it once treated as a threat.
Offered at Harper MD in Weston, FL under the care of our practitioners. AAT does not diagnose, test for, or cure allergies, and does not treat anaphylaxis or life-threatening symptoms.

Allergies and sensitivities are inappropriate reactions to otherwise harmless substances. When the body overreacts, it’s the state of the organ systems involved that often determines which symptoms show up — which is why the same substance can cause a rash in one person, sinus congestion in another, and heartburn in a third.
AAT merges 21st-century science with principles from traditional acupuncture and modern chiropractic. It uses a precision-based acupressure technique — no needles — to work with the organ systems involved in a reaction, helping the body form a calmer, more appropriate response to the substance.
Using a refined form of Muscle Response Testing, the practitioner identifies which substances appear to be creating stress on the body — and which organ systems are involved. AAT does not diagnose or test for allergies; it assesses stress.
The practitioner applies gentle acupressure to specific points along the spine that correspond to the sympathetic chain — the network behind the body’s “fight or flight” response — and the organ systems involved.
At the same time, a digital representation of the offending substance is presented to the skin through an arm cuff. Because the pressure and the exposure happen together, the body can form a new, lower-stress association with the item.
A sensitivity can trigger symptoms in any organ system, which is why they vary so widely from person to person. AAT targets the specific systems involved in your reaction. Here are the ones most commonly affected.
Reflux, heartburn, abdominal and intestinal pain, cramping, gas, bloating, nausea, and diarrhea — primarily from reactions to foods and other ingestants.
Sneezing, congestion, runny nose, wheezing, shortness of breath, coughs, and postnasal drip — often tied to pollens, dust, dander, chemicals, and airborne substances.
Red, itchy, or scaly rashes, blisters, dry leathery patches, or hives — commonly from foods, plants, contactants, and chemicals.
Triggered by foods like chocolate and caffeine, airborne irritants like pollens, and chemicals including household cleaners, perfumes, and vehicle fumes.
Many reactions bring on lethargy and fatigue — sometimes at specific times of day, such as the afternoon after eating.
Some reactions affect several systems at once — showing up as headaches, irritability, hyperactivity, mood swings, fatigue, or inflammation.
Symptoms of an allergy or sensitivity can contribute to a range of common conditions. Not all cases involve allergies or sensitivities.
Being clear about the boundaries of this therapy matters. Here is what AAT is not, stated plainly.
AAT does not diagnose allergies, sensitivities, or intolerances, and does not perform conventional allergy testing. It assesses what may be causing stress on the body. Bring any allergy test results from your physician.
AAT does not cure allergies and does not treat the immune system. It is a highly effective treatment for long-term relief from the symptoms associated with allergies and sensitivities.
AAT does not treat anaphylaxis or any life-threatening symptoms. In these cases, strict avoidance is always advised. Patients who experience anaphylactic reactions may still be treated for other, non-life-threatening sensitivities.
AAT cannot guarantee any results. While it may be highly effective in relieving many symptoms, some cases do not respond, and new sensitivities can develop in the future. Food intolerances (such as lactose intolerance) and pathogen-caused conditions are not treatable with AAT.
AAT treatments are not covered by insurance, because there is no diagnostic code for the therapy. They are, however, eligible for payment through an HSA or FSA. A doctor’s referral is not required to be seen.
Your initial session includes an assessment and one treatment. We’ll walk you through session pricing and options at your evaluation.
The questions patients ask most about AAT. Anything specific to your situation is best answered at your evaluation.
Symptoms associated with a single substance are often improved or relieved within about 24 hours. Many conditions, such as sinusitis or IBS, respond within the first few treatments. Each case is unique and may need additional visits, and as with any healthcare modality, some cases may not respond.
AAT treats one allergen family at a time (for example, dust, dairy, or grasses), so the number of visits depends on how many families are involved in your reaction. A single family often responds within one visit, though some need several. Conditions such as chronic sinusitis or IBS typically take between 5 and 12 treatments.
No needles. AAT uses a gentle, precision-based acupressure technique. It is safe and painless, and there is no age restriction — all ages may be treated, including infants.
An initial session usually takes about 40 to 60 minutes and includes an assessment and one treatment. Follow-up sessions typically run 20 to 30 minutes. Up to four treatments can be done in a single day, so you can set the pace that suits you.
No on both. Prescription and over-the-counter medications do not interfere with treatment, so you should not stop anything your physician prescribed without their guidance. AAT also does not require traditional allergy testing beforehand — though if you have test results from your doctor, please bring them.
No to both. Food intolerances (such as lactose intolerance) come from an enzyme deficiency, not an inappropriate reaction, so they are outside what AAT addresses — though AAT can help with dairy sensitivity symptoms. AAT also does not treat anaphylaxis or any life-threatening symptoms; strict avoidance is always advised in those cases.
If allergy and sensitivity symptoms have reorganized your life around what you avoid, AAT offers another path. Your first evaluation at Harper MD is free, unhurried, and carries no commitment.
