The Science

The Science

At HarperMD, we take pride in our evidence-based approach to treatment, supported by rigorous clinical research. Obesity and its related health issues have reached epidemic proportions globally, and our medical professionals are uniquely positioned to address these challenges. Recognizing obesity as a disease almost a decade ago, the American Medical Association emphasized the importance of comprehensive medical interventions.

We offer individualized treatment plans backed by scientific research and translational science, which bridges the gap between basic and clinical research to develop innovative therapies and enhance clinical guidelines. As the industry leader in physician-supervised weight management, our commitment to advancing weight management practices is evident in our continuous research efforts.

Our scientists, physicians, and researchers actively participate in scientific and medical conferences, such as The Obesity Society’s Obesity Week, Obesity Medicine Association Conferences, American College of Lifestyle Medicine Conferences, and events hosted by organizations like the World Obesity Federation and Your Weight Matters. Additionally, our experts are frequently sought after for interviews and consultations on topics related to obesity, preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, and public health.

Our extensive research confirms that patients at HarperMD experience significant weight loss and notable improvements in their overall health. In our most comprehensive study to date, we observed the following positive outcomes among our patients:

Decreased body fat

On average, patients experienced a reduction in body fat percentage of approximately 15% within the first 16 weeks of the program.

Substantial weight loss

Patients achieved a 15% reduction in body weight within the first 13 weeks, which increased to 20% by week 37.

Lowered BMI

The BMI of participants decreased by five points within the initial 16 weeks and nearly 7 points by week 47.

Loss of body fat

A significant decrease of about 13% in body fat percentage was observed within the first 14 weeks.

Reduced waist circumference:

Patients experienced a reduction of approximately 6 inches in waist circumference after 15 weeks in the program.

HDL "good" cholesterol levels increased by 38% over 9 1/2 months, while LDL "bad" cholesterol levels decreased.
